Add subpixel-hinting to your Photoshop text layers

Posted by David Bushell

Add subpixel-hinting to your Photoshop text layers - a Photoshop action created by Thomas Maier to add subpixel-hinting. This article is from March last year but I think worth noting if you haven't seen it yet.

The usual way, to smooth text in Photoshop, is to choose one of the different anti-aliasing techniques in the drop down menu. The downside as you know is, that the smoothing of the text is done by greyscale and not by blending different channels.

If your PSD is just a mockup and text will be rendered by a web browser later then this isn't necessary, but if you're embedding text in a raster image it could prove to be useful.
